What is Freegood?

The Freegood mobile app provides a platform for individuals and organisations to giveaway and request for goods. Freegood is a hassle free way to help others and the environment. Our aim is to reduce waste and inspire good in others through giving. Users simply list items they need or items they want to give away and mutually agree on a time and place to exchange.

Can I buy or sell on Freegood?

You cannot buy or sell items on Freegood. Freegood is free to use and everything posted must be free with no strings attached so buying, selling, trading and bartering are not permitted. Users found to be doing this will likely be removed or banned the service.

Can I sell an item I get through Freegood?

Profiteering from Freegood is not permitted. If you are found to be reselling things you got from Freegood then you will be banned from the service. If you received an item from Freegood that you no longer require then post it back on Freegood for someone else to use and benefit.

Are delivery charges permitted?

Delivery and postal charges are permitted and need to be mutually agreed by the users. Make sure your listings state this and use the chat function to clarify if needed.

Are items picked up, delivered or mailed?

Because items are given away for free, it is expected that the person receiving the item will bear any cost of pick-up and pick-up at a time and place that is mutually convenient. Use the chat function to agree on the details. Always exercise safety and meet in public places if you are unsure.

How do I choose who to give my item to?

It’s completely up to you! Some people choose the first person to respond, some give it to the first person that can collect while others may want to give it to those they feel need it the most. When you’re choosing, you might want to see the user profile or use the private chat to get to know the person on the other side, agree on when and where and Freegood!

How can I prevent no-shows?

It can be annoying when someone arranges to come and pickup an item you’re offering and then doesn’t show up. Here are some tips to minimize no-shows:

  • Don’t simply choose the first person to respond. Gather a few replies and choose someone who you think is most likely to show up.
  • In your item listing, specify when you would like the item picked up. You can also ask people to provide dates and times that they can pickup the item.
  • Review the user profile and ratings to determine reliability
  • Use the chat function to mutually agree on pick-up / delivery times

How do I handle no-shows?

Most people give the user a second chance as there maybe unforeseen circumstances. It’s always a good idea to collect a few replies to your offers before closing a transaction. This makes it easier to give away your item without having to repost. Reviewing your transaction and providing feedback on the user is a good way to make Freegood a reliable community.

What listings are prohibited?

Freegood prohibits the listing of any items that are illegal under any applicable law, statute, ordinance or regulation at a local, state, provincial, national or international level.

Some examples of items that are not allowed are below:

  • Photo or text containing a reference to another website, app or merchant
  • An item not intended to be given away
  • Obscene Material and all types of Pornography
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Tobacco and vape products
  • Blood, bodily fluids and body parts
  • Counterfeit products
  • Databases containing personal data
  • Embargoed Goods
  • Illegal Drugs, drug paraphernalia
  • Controlled chemical substances
  • Prescription medicine
  • All types of illegal services and products

Privacy

How is my privacy protected?

In your user profile, you will be able to see information that is private to you and also public information that others can see. Freegood does not disclose your name, your email, your phone number to other users. Please read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service of additional information.

What are some on tips on privacy?

It is important to us that the experience using our service is a pleasant one. The safety of our users is very important to us. Please take a few minutes to read these tips.

  • Keep your personal information private: Be careful about sharing personal information, such as your full name, phone number, email and address. Protect your identity until you are comfortable enough with someone to share it. Also, leave any personal contact information out of your listings.
  • Freegood allows you to include include the location of the item. Please review this for safety.
  • Keep your financial information private: Ignore any request to send money – even if the person claims to be in an emergency – and report it to us immediately. Never give out financial information such as your ID number, credit card number or bank information.

Note: We will never send you an email asking for your username and password information. Any such communication should be reported immediately.

There are red flags to watch out for that may indicate you’re dealing with a scammer. Be aware of anyone who:

  • Sends you messages containing links to third-party websites
  • Quickly asks to talk or chat outside of Freegood
  • Asks you for money
  • Vanishes mysteriously then reappears under a different name
  • Asks for your address under the guise of sending gifts
  • Report suspicious users Please report anyone who violates our terms of use. Examples of terms of use violations include
    • Asking you for money for the items
    • Users sending harassing or offensive messages
    • Users behaving inappropriately after meeting in person
    • Fraudulent profiles
    • Attempts to sell or resell products or services

Safety

Does Freegood screen users who sign-up to it’s services?

Freegood does not screen users for criminal or background checks. It is up to the users to take precautions and exercise safety when meeting other users from Freegood. Reviewing the user profile, prior reviews can be helpful but not fool proof.

How are Freegood users verified?

All users of Freegood are verified through one or more ways below:

  • Social media account sign-in (e.g. Facebook etc)
  • Email address verifications
  • Mobile OTP passwords

We encourage users to verify their accounts in as many ways possible. This can be done in the ‘Me’ section of the app. Click on setting and then ‘Build Trust’. By having your accounts verified we endure a safer community for all users.

What are some tips for meeting people offline?

We encourage our users to exercise caution and use common sense when engaging with other users on our services.

  • Get to know the other person before meeting them offline: Get to know someone by reviewing their profile, reviews and through chat before disclosing personal information or meeting in person.
  • Always meet in public or safe place: Meet for the first time in a populated, public place – never in a private or remote location, and never at your home or apartment.
  • Tell a friend or family member of your plans: Tell them who you are meeting, where you are going and when you will return. Bring your phone with you.
